2016 Fuchs und Hase Pet Nat Vol 3 ($32) & 2015 Vol 5 ($30)
We discovered this producer in a little wine bar dedicated to the Natural Wine Movement (the food was also incredible). The name is O Boufe's in Vienna, Austria.Vol 5 is a sparkling blend of Welschriesling and Gruner Veltiner. Vol 3 is sparkling Welschriesling. When we say sparkling, well, it's very lightly sparkling. The wine is bottled with the lees while the juice is still fermenting. That's basically what a 'Pet Nat' is (or Petillant Naturel). This way of winmaking pre-dates the Champagne method by centuries. SO...is this stuff any good? Let's just say they are REALLY FUN. Pear and apple notes blend with dried apricot and hay. That pretty much sums these two up.
Five cases each were imported to California. We have a case of each in stock.

2015 Ettore Germano Langhe Nebbiolo 'Rosanna' Rose Brut ($34)
-Sparkling Nebbiolo!
Ettore is known as a brilliant Barolo producer. And we'd heard rumors that he produced a fantastic sparkling Nebbiolo too. We finally were able to taste this wine last week and agreed this is indeed marvelous juice. Crisp and refreshing with scents of citrus, cranberry, aromatic herbs. Vibrant on the palate. Lovely finish.

2016 Tinedo Ja! ($8.50)

Organic Tempranillo from Rioja, Spain that's GREAT. This is hands down the best 'under $10' wine we've tasted. Silky smooth, fresh and well-balanced. Great aromatics too.

2016 Comando G 'La Bruja de Rozas' Garnacha $28
Fernando Garcia and Daniel Gomez Jimenez-Landi are the founders of this Spanish winery named Comando G, wich comes from a Spanish 1980s cartoon based on “Science Ninja Team Gatchaman,” a Japanese anime series from the ‘70s.
For over 10 years this wine team has been tracking down lost and forgotten vineyards that were only legend, whispered about in taverns or in the fields after a night of drinking.
This old vine Garnacha is lovely, with floral notes, and a chalky minerality. Tremendously elegant.

2013 Valdicava Brunello di Montalcino ($128)
First, 2013 is a brilliant vintage in Brunello, perhaps even better than the recent 2010 vintage.
This 98 point stunner is juicy, with dark berry, dried mushroom, orange peel, ripe cherry, and a scattering of herbs. Worthy of cellaring, or if you just can't wait, decant this one for 4-5 hours.

2015 Paul Jaboulet Crozes-Hermitage 'Domaine de Thalabert' $48
Another great 97 Point success, perhaps the best vintage of this wine ever. Gorgeous and deeply layered, and incredibly satisfying. Blackcurrants, truffles, soft earth, wonderful texture. We are in love with this wine.
