Rose All Day!
Wow
what a weekend in store. The mercury may hit 85F downtown here
in Santa Barbara (yes, mercury!).
The valley is expected to reach the low 90s. This has us -and
probably you- thinking about a cold glass of Rose.
We
have a brilliant answer:
Two
Roses from Corsica and three from Provence.
Let us begin:
2024
Domaine Poli Île de Beauté Sciacca + Nielluc
Island of Rose
(France, Corsica)
$18.50
Always
a great way to begin a warm afternoon, whether it's poolside,
picnicking, or relaxing with a guilty pleasure novel.
2024
Les Vignerons Corsicans Corse Terra Nostra
(France, Corsica)
$16.50
100% Sciacarello
and a silly price. Refreshing, delightful, downright
thirst-quenching.
2024
Les Vignerons de Grimaud Fleur de Provence
(France, Côtes de Provence)
$18.50
Our first Rose from Provence is a Grenache-based gem. Smooth,
easy-going, a perfect wine with a light and refreshing Greek
salad.
2024
Ramatuelle Tibouren Rosé
(France, Provence, Côtes de Provence)
$22
We
arrive at a rare Rose: this one is 100% Tibouren. Theories
place it origin in ancient Mesopotamia. Let's go with that.
A bit more texture with notes of red grapefruit, light melon,
white peach, and cherry, arriving at a long and well-balanced
finish with mineral and flinty undertones.
2024 Moulin de la Roque Bandol Les Hauts du Vallon Rosé
(France, Provence, Bandol)
$26
Mourvedre-based as is the case with Roses from Bandol. Out of
the five this one is the most layered and complex. Ripe
strawberry, citrus notes, mineral freshness. Red currant, peach
and a hint of Provençal herbs make an appearance, then a crisp
and dry lingering finish + subtle Mediterranean salinity.
Pairs well with grilled seafood, Niçoise salad, ratatouille or
soft cheeses.
