Starting to Sound A Lot Like Leap Day! |
Not sure what that means but here are some of the latest arrivals at Renegade:
-
|

2016 Chateau de Merande Mondeuse (France, Savoie) $32
We start with a really interesting wine: 100% Mondeuse Noir from the Vin de Savoie Arbin appellation. Biodynamic from the start but clean with hints of earth mingled with dark spice and berries. This is considered the best representation of this varietal. We'd drink it daily it it weren't for the ultra-small production the winery produces. |
2018 Chateau de la Liguiere L'Ampoule (France, Languedoc, Faugeres) $18.50
La Liquière is the amazing story of a family, who has strived, over the past few generations, to extract the best of the terroir of Faugères.
And they do!
Consider this 100% Cinsault. It's unreal. Fresh and seductive, lean and inviting. At once tremendous but subtle. We sip and sip and sip and want more.
|

2018 Domaine Duseigneur 'Minha Terra' (France, Southern Rhone, Valcluse) $24
There's a theme to these first three wines: Biodynamic, minimal to no added sulfites, and all 100% delicious.
This bottle of old-vine Syrah is perhaps a bit more bold with peppery spice and body, but the acidity creates a savory depth that cannot be ignored. A tremendous effort and another one of our 'new-go-to reds'.
|

2016 Elena Fucci Aglianico 'Titolo' (Italy, Basilicata, Aglianico del Vulture) $45
First, we held off on stocking this wine afraid that it would end up on our dinner table night after night.
It still does, but now it's at Renegade in a more permanent position.
If you haven't heard of Elena Fucci check out her instagram. She's a rockstar. She's taken the varietal, Agliancico, and elevated to 'Zeus-Forian Heights'. Barolo of Southern Italy? At the least!
|

2016 Cerbaiona Rosso di Montalcino (Italy, Montalcino) $65
Antonio Galloni mentions that this is the ONE estate he would choose in Montalcino if he had to. We're on board.
A tremendous winery with uber-small production. From the classic 2016 vintage this may very well be one of the best 'Brunellos' that's only a 'Rosso' from this vintage.
|

2016 Stephane Ogier Cote-Rotie 'Mon Village' (France, Northern Rhone) $82
There's a lot to love here: pepper-dusted red & dark berry fruits, a potpourri of Mediterranean spices, smoky minerality, and a fantastically long finish.
From one of the greats!
|

2018 Mas des Caprices 'Rouge a Siroter' (France, Languedoc, Aude) $18.50
A chillable red for all of your spring grilling needs! Throw this bright n' juicy carignan-mourvèdre blend from the Languedoc in the cooler and you're good to go. This wine's light body and rustic tannins make it the perfect pair for burgers or grilled chicken. R.A.S. is aged in concrete vats rather than oak to preserve it's fresh and fruity character.
Love this one.
|

2013 Virna Barolo Cannubi Boschis (Italy, Piedmont) $65
Virna, if you haven't met her already, is a Barolo treasure. She's on her 43 vintage now. Wow! This one is extra special as she is one of only two estates to have access to the Cannubi Boschis rows of fruit.
Let's just say this is stunning, and leave it at that.
|

2019 Milan Nestarec 'Youngster - Say No More' (Czech Republic, Moravia) $30
We cannot put this one down. And those of you who have tried have failed. You've told us. A blend of Zweigelt, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Dornfelder. It's utterly juicy, savory, and a puzzle. After a few sips you'll forget the 'from where' & 'from what' and simply call us for more.
