2004 Reignac Bordeaux Superieur
$16 reg 34
A solidly-constructed, dense ruby/purple-hued effort, the 2004 offers
up scents of black cherry liqueur, creme de cassis, lead pencil, and
vanilla. Deep and medium-bodied with fresh acidity, moderate tannin,
and a layered mouthfeel, it could easily be confused with a top Medoc
in a blind tasting. -RP

Super
Rare Magnums (1.5 Liter Bottles):
-
2008
Michel Gros Clos Vougeot $278
"A fresh but reserved and rather somber nose of clean red berry
fruit and earth aromas is trimmed in a discreet application of oak that
leads to crisp, detailed, tautly muscled and precise flavors that also
possess a slight finishing edginess though excellent complexity."
-BH
-
2003 Spottswoode Estate Cabernet Sauvignon $240
"A dense ruby/purple color and a beautiful
nose of graphite intermixed with blueberry, creme de cassis, and acacia
flower. The wine is full-bodied, has decent acidity, sweet, well-integrated
tannin, and subtle wood. This is a beauty and certainly one of the more
impressively constituted and elegant wines of the vintage." -RP 94
-
2005 Chateau Bastor-Lamontagne Sauternes
$72
"light gold-colored, tropical fruit offering abundant quantities
of apricot, lychee, honeysuckle, and other tropical fruit characteristics
with little evidence of oak. Excellent acidity..." -RP
-
N.V. Allimant-Laugner Cremant D'Alsace Rose $42
"possibly the finest Cremant D'Alsace Rose we
have ever tasted. Great acidity & structure with fine notes of red
berries." -RW
